Called to Serve; Called to Pray and Called to Lead
Original Vocations reflection from Brisbane Archdiocesan Website (Vocations)

Called to Serve...
Diocesan Priests are called to serve in the local parish community. Like Jesus they are encouraged to reach out to all and walk with them in their journey through life.

Through their service they encourage their faith community to strive to be a living sign of Jesus’ presence and action in the world.

Are you ready to journey with people through their hopes, fears and dreams?

Are you ready to go out and meet people where they are: in their homes, hospitals, prisons and workplaces?

Are you ready to be Jesus’ hands and feet?

Called to Pray...
Priests are called before all else to be heralds of the Gospel. They find their constant nourishment in God’s Word, and assist the parish community in hearing God’s Word and living it in their daily lives.

Priests are called to continue Christ’s work among his people through the celebration of the Sacraments – welcoming,
healing, forgiving, strengthening and uniting – and most particularly in the celebration of the Eucharist.
Are you ready to find God wherever you are?

Are you ready to look at how you relate with self, others God and the World?

Are you ready to gather God’s people around the table of the Eucharist?

Called to Lead...
Through the life and ministry of priests, God continues to nourish the faith community, especially through Word and Sacrament. The diocesan priest has a key role in assisting the faithful to apply Christian values to the world in which they live, and encouraging all Christians to be active in the world.

Are you ready to inspire others to change the world?

Are you ready to stand with the oppressed and marginalised?

Are you ready to preach the Word that gives life, and frees people to be fully alive; to be a prophetic voice crying in the wilderness?
