A reflection of Priesthood.
To be an effective priest we need to be real, loving,
human beings I am here today to say
I love being a priest! Its full of variety.
Priestly life is actually mostly fun and very rewarding,
and when its not fun, its meaningful!
I think its so important to have a good sense
of humour and enjoy people and the situations we find
ourselves in.

Homily by Fr Tim Harris on
1 Corinthians 12:12-30
Before her tragic death in 1997, the circumstances of which continue to be investigated all these years later, Princess Diana was championing the cause of those who had been victims of land-mine explosions. Who will ever forget in the weeks following her funeral, the television footage, still shown today, of her last visit to Bosnia. Featured in this footage was the princess reaching out to those who had survived the explosions but who would have to live the rest of their lives maimed by the loss of one or more of their limbs.

Homily by Rev Dr Tom Boland on the occasion of his Golden Jubilee of Priesthood 2003
At a time like this one cannot help reflecting on the mystery of Vocation, of God's call. We are told that the only sure sign of that call is the bishop's summons at ordination. Technically that may be true; but there is an experience, an awakening to possibility, even necessity by which God, at least, asks a question: Will you serve Me and My sons and daughters with Word and Sacrament? It is then for the individual and for the Church to discern the meaning of this call. Since I have been reflecting on that experience in my life, I thought I would simply describe it to you.
